Grad student’s invention may curb shoulder pain in astronauts

Hunter Alvis, a Texas Woman’s PhD candidate, received a 2023 fellowship from the Texas Space Grant Consortium (TSGC) that shifted his entire academic and career path. The award validated his independent research project on mitigating shoulder injuries in astronauts, renewing a life-long dream of working at NASA.
Camp packs active slate for youth with visual impairments

Jada Celsur was one of several ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ graduate students who volunteered with Camp Abilities Texas, also known as CATX, which is a weeklong sports camp for youth who are blind, visually impaired or deafblind. It concludes July 18 on the Texas Woman’s University campus.

²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ alumna Michelle Martin Diltz rose from being among the first women in the strength coaching field to a trailblazer for those who followed. Now, as the senior associate director of performance for Olympic sports at University of Alabama, she is responsible for improving athletic performance across multiple programs.

A team of Texas Woman’s kinesiology students designed a pneumatic device that earned them first place overall at a NASA-sponsored statewide design competition that wrapped up on April 14.
Rigby named associate dean for AI, research innovation

Rhett Rigby, PhD, has been named associate dean for artificial intelligence and research innovation in the College of Health Sciences. He assumes the new role on July 1.
