July 18, 2023 - DENTON - The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators selected ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ Visual Arts professor Sheli Petersen as its featured illustrator in July.

Petersen was interviewed by SCBWI’s illustration and design manager TeMika Grooms, and Petersen's work was showcased for the children's publishing market.

SCBWI provides resources, professional networking and community-building opportunities for writers, illustrators and translators. Petersen has been active in SCBWI since 2018, collaboratively coordinating webinars and workshops that offer networking and portfolio review opportunities with top agents, editors and art directors.

Petersen has extensive experience in children's illustration, with clients including  McGraw-Hill, Renaissance House, Highlights magazine, Cricket Media and the National Heritage Museum in Lexington, MA. Her visual storytelling combines the research and detailed accuracy of scientific illustration, which she teaches at ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ, with her love of world building, character design, lively interaction, and whimsical humor.
