Mission Statement

Texas Woman’s University is committed to preventing injuries and illnesses while fostering a safe campus for the University community as a whole. The Safety Committee provides a forum for evaluating, maintaining, and strengthening ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ’s safety culture.

Structure

The ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ Safety Committee will be chaired by a member elected by the Committee whose primary responsibilities will be to facilitate meetings and serve as a liaison between the Committee and the University community.

Committee members will solicit ideas from various departmental personnel with first-hand knowledge of potential hazards. Members will also evaluate options for safety and health program improvements and safety culture overall. 

Meetings

The ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ Safety Committee will convene at a frequency determined by the membership.

Responsibilities

In addition to attending Committee meetings, responsibilities associated with the Committee will include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a role model supporting a positive safety culture
  • Identify and be receptive to safety concerns and issues
  • Propose and assist with the implementation of efforts to improve safety culture
  • Assist with the development, review, and implementation of safety and health procedures, policies, and tools
  • Respect confidentiality

Current Committee

The University Safety Committee is currently chaired by the Director of Environmental, Health & Safety. Email questions or concerns you would like to present to the Safety Committee to risk@twu.edu.
