The Texas Woman鈥檚 University Future Classroom Lab hosts a variety of events each year, showcasing its uses and capabilities while sparking interest and engagement in young minds.

Summer camps and field trips

• Camp CoDE for Students
  During the summer, the 草莓传媒官网下载FCL hosts , a camp for K-12 d/Deaf/Hard of hearing students in which the campers learn a variety of 21st-century skills by participating in various STEAM, coding and robotics activities.
• Camp LEGO for Students
  During the summer of 2022, the 草莓传媒官网下载FCL  hosted Camp LEGO for the first time. Camp LEGO was a week-long camp for students aged 5 to 12 with different hearing capabilities. The camp added LEGO building pieces to coding and robotic concepts. Campers enhanced their building skills, expanded their vocabularies with LEGO terminology and sharpened their physical skills.
• Camp CoDE for Teachers
  The 草莓传媒官网下载FCL also offers a week-long summer camp for teachers. During this experience, pre-service and in-service teachers have the opportunity to gain experience using a variety of technology and robotics applications. They also receive coaching on how to incorporate coding, robotics and other 21st-century skills into their teaching practice.
• Field trips and school visits
  During the school year, local K-12 students take field trips to the 草莓传媒官网下载FCL to participate in various activities that connect content areas across all subjects to STEAM, coding and/or robotics applications.
  The 草莓传媒官网下载FCL also travels to local schools, bringing a variety of robotics and coding applications to K-12 classrooms and planning activities that incorporate those technologies into the content that students are learning.

Past Events

• Denton ISD Community Night of S.T.E.A.M. – January 2020
  The 草莓传媒官网下载FCL attended Denton ISD’s Community Night of S.T.E.A.M., an event in which schools in the Denton ISD area brought interactive STEAM activities for students and their families to participate in. The 草莓传媒官网下载FCL planned three activities that connected art with robotics using Sphero, Codey Rocky and Matatalab.
• Joining the FCL Network – November 2016
  Chad Smith, PhD, and Ludovic A. Sourdot, PhD, traveled to Brussels to visit a future classroom lab. During this visit, the 草莓传媒官网下载FCL was officially recognized as an FCL Network Lab. The 草莓传媒官网下载FCL is currently the only U.S. member of the  of future classroom labs. In May 2017, Dr. Smith returned to Brussels to present information about the 草莓传媒官网下载FCL to European Schoolnet’s industry partners.
