Support group is Rx for professor’s heart condition

For his community work, Wayne Brewer, a professor in the School of Physical Therapy, will receive the Heartfelt Hero Award from the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA), a multidisciplinary organization working to improve and expand heart failure care through collaboration, education, research, innovation and advocacy. In partnership with Houston Methodist Hospital, Brewer founded a heart failure support group that has impacted hundreds of people.
New anesthesia rule gives boost to dental hygienists

Texas Woman's graduate Sabrina Vaughan is part of the first cohort of Texas dental hygiene graduates eligible for certification in local infiltration anesthesia, a ruling adopted in May 2024 by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. Starting in fall 2025, senior students at ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ will gain hands-on experience administering local infiltration anesthesia under dentist supervision, marking a significant milestone for the profession.

Texas Woman’s University dietetics students Laura Gallegos and Anthony Herbert worked with Dallas-Fort Worth restaurant chain HG Sply Co. on a nutrition update. Gallegos focused on the nutritional analysis of the menu, while Herbert translated the technical terms into messaging customers could easily understand.
