Minerva’s Market
About Minerva’s Market
Minerva's Market provides free food to ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ students as a premier college partner with the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Minerva’s Market will be stocked with both fresh and non-perishable foods and items. Currently enrolled ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ students will have access to food items to positively impact their academic progress by supporting some of their nutritional needs. Additionally, CARE staff will provide information about the mobile pantry and SNAP application help while at the pantry.
Purpose
Minerva's Market, a free on-campus food pantry, is intended to help fill the gap for students experiencing food insecurity and not be the sole source of a student’s entire food needs. Minerva’s Market is focused on student success through supporting students who are hungry, fostering an increased understanding of food insecurity and providing a space for students to volunteer.

Why the need for Minerva's Market?
Students experiencing hunger is a problem nationally and locally. According to research published by ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ Food & Nutrition Sciences faculty and graduate students, between 37-44% of ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ students reported experiencing food insecurity. Understandably when basic needs are not met, learning is impacted.
