Mark Hamner receives national mathematics honor society service award

June 10, 2021—DENTON—²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ Vice Provost for Institutional Research & Improvement Mark Hamner, PhD, was selected as the 2021 recipient of the (KME) .

KME is a national mathematics honor society for undergraduate students. Hamner served as the honor society’s ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ chapter adviser for many years before becoming active in the national organization. His service at the national level was recognized by the Mach Award, and he will be honored with a plaque and $500 given to the ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ KME chapter.

According to the , "The George Mach Distinguished Service Award is KME’s most important award, and is given biennially to recognize an individual who has served the society with distinction... Nominations are solicited from the chapters. The National Council determines the recipient."

KME was founded in 1931, and the ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ chapter was established in 1947.
