Doctoral PT program approved for Denton

The Texas Woman’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program received approval for an additional program to be housed on the Denton campus from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

PT student gained interprofessional experience, reward serving patients in Guatemala

Sammy Jo Shaw, a third-year doctor of physical therapy student at Texas Woman’s, was among a team of 14 graduate students and four College of Health Sciences faculty members that provided therapy services at various clinics in Guatemala. As part of a ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ experiential learning program, the group spent 10 days in May working with Hearts In Motion, an organization that offers medical care to people in need.

PT faculty, PhD student to study access challenges to PT services

PhD candidate Madeline Ratoza, associate professor Rupal M. Patel, PhD; professor Wayne Brewer, PhD and associate director Katy Mitchell, PhD received a grant of $25,000 for their project titled "Modeling Rehabilitation Provider Shortage with Population Data as a Pilot Study in Texas."

U.S. News ranks OT #1, PT #2 among best graduate programs in Texas

Among graduate programs at Texas universities, ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ’s Occupational Therapy program was ranked No. 1 and its Physical Therapy program was ranked No. 2, while Texas Woman’s master’s nursing program was ranked No. 4 and its speech-language pathology program was ranked No. 8 in the state.

²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ selects new health sciences dean

Texas Woman’s has selected veteran administrator, global leader in research and seasoned faculty member Catrine Tudor-Locke, PhD to serve as the university’s next dean of the College of Health Sciences. She begins her new role on July 1, 2025.
