Jessica Camp among 10 national emerging leaders in academic advising

July 17, 2019 - DENTON - Jessica Camp, coordinator of academic transitions of Texas Woman鈥檚 University鈥檚 Pioneer Center for Student Excellence, is one of only 10 administrators in the nation selected for the National Academic Advising Association 2019-2020 .

Camp joins academic professionals from major universities across the country who will be inducted in October at NACADA鈥檚 annual conference in Louisville, Kentucky.

In selecting members, the international academic advising association considered an applicant鈥檚 individual and institutional diversity, previous involvement with NACADA, leadership goals and letters of recommendation. 

In the Emerging Leaders Program, Camp will work with a NACADA mentor for two years to gain the skills, experience and knowledge necessary to serve as a leader in the association.

鈥淚t is an honor to be one of 10 emerging leaders selected for this program,鈥 Camp said. 鈥淚 am excited to have the opportunity to represent 草莓传媒官网下载 and share many of our institution's amazing qualities with academic advising professionals across the globe.鈥

Camp is an expert on advising first-generation, undecided and underrepresented student populations. She received her master's in Multicultural Women's and Gender Studies at 草莓传媒官网下载 and is currently pursuing her doctorate in the same program.

鈥淭his program will expose to me broader and unique perspectives from NACADA鈥檚 top academic advising professionals,鈥 Camp said. 鈥淚 hope to grow professionally and bring back my enhanced professional knowledge back to 草莓传媒官网下载 to help our students and better their academic advising experience.鈥
