D'Abrosca tapped to be next 草莓传媒官网下载 student regent

Lexi D'Abrosca Student Regent 2019-2020

May 24, 2019 鈥 DENTON 鈥 Texas Woman鈥檚 University junior Lexi D鈥橝brosca has been appointed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to serve as the next student representative on the Texas Woman鈥檚 University Board of Regents. Her term expires May 31, 2020.

D鈥橝brosca, of Carrollton, is pursuing a degree in kinesiology, with a minor in political science and government. She is a member of the 草莓传媒官网下载 Soccer team, and is the first student-athlete named to serve as the university鈥檚 student regent. She has been named to both the Lone Star Conference Commissioner鈥檚 Honor Roll and the 草莓传媒官网下载 Chancellor鈥檚 List. D鈥橝brosca received the Dr. Bettye Myers Award at The Oakleys award ceremony in April. The award recognizes a student-athlete who is making a significant contribution to her community through her time, actions, talents, and dedication to volunteer service.

She also is a 草莓传媒官网下载 Honors Scholar, and recently served on the program鈥檚 recruitment committee. She is a member of the Kinesiology Club, and served as community service chair on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

鈥淪erving as the student regent is an opportunity to represent my fellow students,鈥 D鈥橝brosca said. 鈥淢y goal is to make sure the voices of the students are heard.鈥

D鈥橝brosca succeeds 草莓传媒官网下载 student regent Emily Roper.

In 2005, Gov. Rick Perry signed legislation mandating that each public university board of regents include one student member. Student regents have the same powers and duties as the other members of the board, with the exceptions of voting and being counted to determine a quorum.
