Peer program boosts biz student’s college experience

After feeling overwhelmed during her first weeks at the Texas Woman's, Katherine Garcia found success and connection through the Owl’s Nest Peer Mentoring program. Garcia is one of 30 mentees in the Merrilee Alexander Kick College of Business and Entrepreneurship's peer mentoring program.

Vanessa Miranda lives and breathes the Olympics. The Texas Woman’s alumna is the studio scheduling manager for NBC Sports. Part of her role includes serving as the hiring manager for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.

Program for ex-foster youth helped grad set career path

Tomi Choyce has a small, black, polka-dotted notepad with Big Plans typed across the top. On one page, she wrote down that she wanted to finish college. Now, she’s ready to add the biggest checkmark. Choyce will soon graduate cum laude with her BBA from the Texas Woman’s Merrilee Alexander Kick College of Business and Entrepreneurship. Her ceremony is at noon on Dec. 13.
Change in major broadened biz student’s horizons

Brittney Lay experienced a little bit of corporate culture this past summer with her internship at Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). The Texas Woman’s junior not only received real-world experience, she also obtained hands-on training that aligned with her business administration degree.
