Three interprofessional education leaders from Texas Woman’s have been inducted into the National Academies of Practice (NAP).

Dental Hygiene event focuses on improving smiles

More than 80 ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ students took part in the annual ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ Kids a Smile event in March. The free event, sponsored by the university’s Dental Hygiene Program, is a daylong activity devoted to providing free dental services to underrepresented youths from 3 to 19 in the Denton community.

Movement is key learning thread to PT, OT, dance students

Three professors at ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ developed an interprofessional education event connecting physical therapy, occupational therapy, and dance students. Students gained a deeper understanding of the anatomy, range of motion and movement mechanics of the hip, knees and ankles by sharing their expertise at the two sessions.

OT and nursing students collaborate at clinical readiness IPE event

Texas Woman’s second-year occupational therapy students and senior nursing students collaborated on a dynamic, hands-on learning interprofessional event at the ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ Dallas campus on October 9.

Two faculty leaders inducted into National Academies of Practice

Noralyn Pickens, an associate dean for Interprofessional Education and Strategic Initiatives for the College of Health Sciences and College of Nursing, was recognized as a Distinguished Scholar Fellow in the occupational therapy academy, while Charlene Dickinson, dental hygiene program director in the School of Communication Sciences and Oral Health, was named a Professional Member in the oral health academy.
