Dec. 17, 2024 — DENTON — The School of Education welcomed 38 high school students from Denton Independent School District’s program — a “grow your own” style effort from the local school district.

The event, spearheaded by Associate Professor (Literacy and Language), and supported by additional faculty from the School of Education, provided students interested in becoming teachers a tour of ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ’s campus, an opportunity to learn about technology use and gamification, and a look at the Future Classroom Lab.

Students also met with representatives of the FLAME student organization and learned more about ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ student services.

Many students valued learning how important it is to incorporate games and fun into lesson planning. Others appreciated learning how much support is available from the university to assist students on their path to a degree.
