Parents were inspiration for grad’s nursing journey

Lauren Houser, who earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice this spring from ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ’s Dallas campus, is a family practice nurse practitioner and was inspired to pursue a career in nursing by two incredible role models: her parents. Her Doctor of Nursing Practice project focused on increasing access to breast cancer screening in a rural, underserved community through the implementation of a mobile mammography unit.

Army life helped grad on path to doctorate degree

Veronica Villalobos Smith earned a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy this spring from ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½¹ÙÍøÏÂÔØ’s Dallas campus. She chose Texas Woman’s to pursue undergraduate and doctoral degrees partly because of the university’s strong reputation, but also because she wanted a program that would challenge her and help shape her into the clinician and leader she aspires to be – not just for herself but for her three children.

From troubled past to dual master’s grad

Vivian Orellana is graduating from Texas Woman’s Houston campus with a dual Master of Healthcare Administration and Master of Business Administration (MHA/MBA) degree with an emphasis in global health. It would be an understatement to say that her path to obtaining these degrees was challenging.

Mother balances full-time work, courseload on degree path

Some nights ran later. Some mornings started earlier. Carefree weekends faded away to focus on assignments. But on May 4, when Veronica Mata, a mother of three, walks across the stage to receive her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, she says it will be worth it.
